Sightseeing in Bergen
Bergen is worth exploring. Just to browse around the old streets and alleyways is an experience. Here, people have lived and worked for centuries. Small wooden houses lie higgledy-piggledy, cobblestoned stepways climb steeply, and a love of flowers spills over everything. Choose between the variety of public sightseeing offers which will take you around the city and to the many attractions, by foot, bus or the sightseeing train.
To make it easier for you, here is a suggestion for a three-day sightseeing programme in Bergen:
Day one
Start your day with a stroll around the Fish Market and through Bryggen Hanseatic Wharf. Visit one of the many museums, some of which have unique art collections, before heading off to enjoy some shopping in the city centre.
Day two
Take the Fløibanen Funicular the the top of Fløyen (one of the seven mountains surrounding Bergen) and enjoy the view over the city. A leisurely walk through narrow streets and alleyways will lead you back down into the city centre. Visit the open air museum Gamle Bergen (Old Bergen Museum), and then finish off the day with a concert in the concert hall at Troldhaugen, the home of Edvard Grieg.
Day three
Spend the morning at Bergen Aquarium and in the afternoon, take a trip to the fjords. For dinner, try one of the city's numerous fish restaurants. Then why not round off the evening with a cultural treat in one of Bergen's many theatres?
