Hiking to the top of Preikestolen (the Pulpit Rock)

Sweat and sore muscles will soon be forgotten. The view from the Pulpit Rock over the Lysefjord and Ryfylke and the adrenalin you feel on the edge will make you forget anything. Really. This is a true moment that can do something to you. Open your mind. The hike is less than five kilometres each way.

- This hike has taught me something about myself, Spinx when back down at the mountain lodge, the adrenalin from standing at the top still pumping in his blood.

The hike

Spinx is hiking the beginning of the trip pretty fast, not sure if he is going to approach the edge when he reaches the top. He cannot really believe that people sit on the edge up there, with their legs hanging in the air, 600 metres above the fjord.

There are two steep parts, but they are pretty short. The rest is almost like a walk in the park, but with some views out of this world.

Length: About 2,5 hours to the top, and 1 hour and 45 minutes back down.

The crack in the plateau

There is a crack between the plateau of Pulpit Rock and the mountain, and it is said that on the day seven sisters marry seven brothers from the Lysefjord area, the plateau will tear itself away from the mountain and fall into the fjord, creating a huge wave that will destroy all life in the area. You've been warned.
