The RIB boat is doing 35 knots and Spinx is holding on as good as he can. He has been dreaming of seeing these large birds his whole life.
- What are the chances of seeing sea eagles today, asks Spinx.- We are dealing with nature here, so I never promise my guests we will be lucky, but in the years I have done this, we have seen eagles on every single outing, says the captain.
Spinx smiles. Not only is he getting close to wild nature, he is going to see the wildlife up close. This is going to be his big story to take home to England.
Spinx travelled to the fishing village of Henningsvær where he joined a safari with Lofoten Opplevelser.

This is a good combination: You get to travel around the different islands while at the same time seeing the huge sea eagles at close range.
It doesn't take long until Spinx's eyes are wide open. The captain throws fish in the sea. The eagles follow him closely from up in the mountain wall. They wait. They know the fish are too big for the seagulls to swallow. We wait. We look. And then, finally. One of the eagles leaves its spot on the mountain wall and comes gliding towards us. It scares off the seagulls, aims for the fish and comes all the way down to the surface to pick it up with its sharp claws.
Spinx is stunned. Lost for words for a few seconds, before he shouts:
- Did you see that? Did you see that?
I think we can say "yes". Everyone saw that.
