Shopping in Tromsø

Tromsø's lively city centre offers great shopping - from locally made specialities to international and Nordic brands.

Blåst Glass Blowing Hut

In the same building as the Mack Brewery, the world's northernmost glass blowing hut Blåst demonstrates the handicraft of making glass art and decorations. Blåst is also a shop with a large range of glasses and decorations.

Nerstranda

The shopping mall Nerstranda has three floors of shops in a convenient city location where locals and visitors alike can browse around for gifts, fashion and home decoration items, among other things.

Souvenirs and gifts

You will find several specialised souvenir and handicraft shops in Tromsø. Tromsø Gift & Souvenir shop, Snarby Strikkestudio, Husfliden and the Polaria gift shop all have Norwegian souvenirs, ranging from moose collectables to traditional knitwear.

Storgata

In Storgata, Tromsø's main street, there are bookstores such as Bokhuset Libris, where you can buy maps and postcards in addition to several books about the region. Britt's Boutique is the place to go for the shabby chic style, and also for modern kitchen tools. For those with a sweet tooth, Taras has the biggest selection of teas and coffees, as well as fun gifts. Established in 1925, JM Hansen specialises in modern and nordic lighting, with both classic and modern lamps in addition to decorative items.

Outside the city centre

Only a few minutes drive away on the other side of Tromsø Island, Jekta Storsenter has 56 different shops, and being located close to the airport this is a handy option before heading back home. Amfisenter Pyramiden is another good alternative for those who have a car. This mall has 32 stores and is only a few minutes from the Arctic Cathedral. Shopping centres are good choices to find Norwegian food items such as dried fish or brown cheese.
