In Kvinesdal, there is a unique husband and wife team that produce gourmet meat and foods from their own livestock. Their distinctive meats have won competitions and praise from critics and have been used in festivals and events all over Norway. These meats are sold from their store in
They have a special breed of pig called the "Black Dala" which are quite rare in Norway. The breed originated from the "Old Typical pig" which is a specifically mixed bred pig.
On the mountain pastures and in the forest, these pigs live in their natural habitat. They get strong back and thigh muscles due to the relatively steep terrain and with so much exercise they eat a lot of organic foods including grass, heather, berries and roots.
In August 2014, Bekkereinan will be opening an eatery with a beer brewery. Local beers will be made and served here with the option to eat some gourmet meats at the bar or dining hall. The is located in the same building as the meat production.
Barbeques here can be catered for 30 people or more and the dining hall can cater for up to 100 guests.
