Hotels

Choose a cosy wooden hotel in the mountains, a spa hotel by the coast, or a modern design hotel in Oslo, Bergen or Stavanger.

Hotels in Norway come in all shapes and sizes – with something for most budgetsView a list of hotels in Norway or view hotels in map.

Plenty of options

Stay in style at the First Hotel Grims Grenka, Oslo’s first boutique hotel, or at the Clarion Collection Havnekontoret in Bergen, one of the city’s most luxurious addresses. Or opt for a more unusual venue and spend a night at the Snow Hotel in Kirkenes (it is carved up a new every year), a converted Art Nouveau warehouse by the quayside in Ålesund (the interior of Hotel Brosundet was designed by architect firm Snøhetta, the people behind Oslo Opera), or the brand new Rica Rock City Hotel in Namsos, where music enthusiasts can sleep in an oversize electric guitar (really!).

Hotels with character

For rustic charm and atmosphere you can choose from one of several period hotels: from Dalen along the Telemark Canal to Øye by the Hjørundfjord, De historiske  (Historic Hotels) offer over 40 properties enjoying stunning locations and good old-fashioned service, many of them in Fjord Norway.

The Juvet Landscape Hotel in Valldal near Geiranger, is another option. The hotel, which is a collection of small wood and glass units using the gorgeous scenery as a unique backdrop, was the recipient of the 2011 Norwegian Tourism Award.

Rates and discounts

Most hotels, particularly those located in larger towns and cities, offer lower weekend and summertime rates, as well as special rates on family rooms. Compared to the rest of Europe, hotel prices in Norway are not expensive, with the average price for a double room in February 2012 being just under NOK 900*.

The numerous large hotel chains throughout the country often have individual holiday passes and discount schemes.

You can also buy Fjord Pass® which offers substantial discounts on accommodation at 170 hotels, guest houses, cottages and apartments all over Norway.

We advise you to book well in advance, especially if you are coming to Norway during the summer months.
