Plan your trip to Moss

Visit Gallery F 15, one of Norway's foremost exhibition places for contemporary art, or historic Refsnes Gods — decorated with Edvard Munch and Andy Warhol on the walls. Also, do not miss one of Norway's best seaside hotels, Støtvig Hotel!

You are free to choose between almost 50 different beaches in and around Moss. Some are just bare rock faces, others are sandy or grassy. In Moss town centre, you will find the beaches Sjøbadet and Fiske, located on the Jeløya side, and if you prefer more rural surroundings, you will probably favour the beaches on the peninsula of Jeløy, in the charming village of Son, or at Larkollen.

Moss offers day-trip walks through lush countryside along the Oslofjord, through woods and beautiful cultural landscapes to viewpoints, and cafés serving delicious home-made goods. Along the way, you can stop at galleries and handicraft workshops.

Galleri F15, on Jeløy, is one of the oldest and most established institutions for contemporary art in Norway. Get something cool from the gallery shop, and enjoy the famous Alby pastry in the café. Nearby, the almost 300 years old manor house Røed Gård has a lively cultural atmosphere, where several artists have their own workshops and shops. Here, you can find galleries for both handicraft and pictorial art.

Refsnes Gods on Jeløy has an an impeccable location by the Oslofjord. Spend a romantic weekend here, with gourmet meals and fine wines from one of Norway’s most exquisite wine cellars. The main building dates from 1767 and the estate has a unique art collection, including works by both Edvard Munch and Andy Warhol.

Moss is one of Norway’s oldest and most versatile industrial centres. Møllebyen (the Mill city), which is located by Mossefossen waterfall, was the central point for the city’s first industrial epoch and held this status until approximately 1970. Here, Moss Town and Industrial Museum has permanent exhibitions focusing on the milling, water and paper industry.

In Moss, and in its surrounding area, you will find everything from modern shopping centres to old-fashioned general stores, markets and handicraft shops.
