A day trip rafting the river Sjoa through Heidal

This is the amazing trip that made rafting so popular in Norway. The trip, suitable for almost all, takes us about 16 km along the central section of the river Sjoa. The trip varies according to the changing water levels, either surfing the high waters or using more technical rafting skills at lower water levels. Our experienced and friendly team will guide you safely through the rapids, with lots of fun and excitement along the way. You will experience all the well-known rapids such as the Micro Surf, Gulf Stream, Haystacks, Chocolate Canyon, ByeByeBaby and Faukstad Drop. Halfway we take a break on the riverbank for some hot casserole, salad and bread. We’ll light the bonfire and brew some coffee before starting the second half of the trip. When the water levels are low we’ll end the trip in the “washing machine”! Once out of the rapids and back at base, enjoy a hot shower and some coffee / tea / juice in our grill house. Planet River will document your adventure, with photos available to see and purchase after you trip.

An afternoon rafting the river Sjoa through Heidal

This is a shorter version of the day trip to the central part of the river Sjoa, but it’s just as wet and wild! Experience the most popular rapids with the trip varying according to changing water levels, either surfing the high waters or using more technical rafting skills at lower water levels. When the water levels are low we’ll end the trip in the “washing machine”! Our skilled and experienced guides will take you safely through the rapids – the trip is suitable for almost everyone. Once out of the rapids and back at base, enjoy a hot shower and some coffee / tea / juice in our grill house.
Planet River will document your adventure, with photos available to see and purchase after your trip.

Day trip rafting through Åseng Gorge

This is more challenging and a slightly wilder adventure than the trip through Heidal. The trip takes us through the upper section of the river Sjoa, where we’ll first test your swimming ability, before heading downstream. The trip winds through beautiful canyons, with steep cliff faces rising from the riverbank. Halfway we take a break for lunch and enjoy some hot food and coffee. The trip is only suitable for the adventurous, the physically fit and strong swimmers.
Once out of the rapids and back at base, enjoy a hot shower and some coffee / tea / juice in our grill house.

Day trip rafting through The Åmodt Falls

This one’s a real rush! Norway’s most challenging rafting trip takes place at the bottom of the river Sjoa and is only suitable for experienced rafters. We run the same stretch of river twice. It’s a very challenging, intense and thrilling rafting ride. We absolutely guarantee you won’t be bored on this trip! After the trip take a hot shower and enjoy some well-deserved coffee / tea / juice in our grill house back at base. Planet River will document your adventure, with photos available to see and purchase after your trip.

Family Rafting on the river Otta
A guided rafting trip is a great opportunity for the whole family to share the excitement of river rafting!

This rafting trip is fantastic and includes other planned activities, so in addition to rafting you can try river swimming, cliff jumping, water pistol wars or maybe even being the guide! Kitted out in a full wetsuit, life jacket and helmet, you’ll get full training before our experienced guides take you safely down the river. This is a great introduction to the exciting adventures of rafting. Afterwards we gather in our grill house where Planet River show pictures from your trip and we serve coffee, tea and juice.

River Boarding

Physically riverboarding is more challenging than rafting. Riverboarding is an individual activity where you lie on a board with grip-handles, wearing full wetsuit, flippers, gloves, helmet and a life jacket, and then traverse the rapids. With expert instruction from your guide, you’ll learn the best technique and revel in an awesome river experience. Riverboarding is perfect for experienced river rafters looking for a new challenge.

Canyoning in the river Sjoa

We offer several different canyoning trips that, depending on the tour, may include hiking, abseiling, swimming the rapids, wading, leaping into deep pools, climbing and zip lining. We provide a full wetsuit, harness, gloves, helmet and on some tours a life jacket. You bring your lunch and we’ll bring the drinks.
Canyoning is ideal as part of a two-day combination with rafting. two wet but quite different activities.

Bridge swinging

A safe but extreme adrenaline rush! Get strapped in, leap from the bridge and plummet towards the river, before swinging up up up, then hurtling down again. The adrenaline surges through your body and gradually slows as you’re hoisted back to the bridge. Bridgeswinging is the ultimate character-building activity and is ideal after rafting, or to include in a larger program of activities.

Tyrolean traverse

Close to our base we set up a rope system across the Åmodt Falls on the river Sjoa. With the help of gravity and the angle of the rope, slide to the other side with the river surging below. The Tyrolean traverse is less intense than bridgeswinging, but still quite a thrill.. This is an excellent after-raft activity, or to include in in a larger program of activities.

Climbing / Abseiling

Near our base we have a small but good climbing area where you can get a basic introduction to climbing and abseiling. Climbing and abseiling are great fun and fast to learn. This is an excellent after-raft activity, or to include in in a larger program of activities.
