Conference hotel and holiday village in Sommarøy
Sommarøy Arctic Hotel opened in April 2001 under the name Sommarøy Kurs og Feriesenter. The hotel is located in the fishing village of Sommarøy, a one-hour drive south-west of Tromsø.
The facilities are built in traditional Northern Norwegian coastal style and comprise a main building, and several sea cabins. The main building houses 28 hotel rooms, reception, restaurant, bar and 3 meeting rooms.
In addition to the sea cabins, there is also a highly popular bathing hut with a wood-fired sauna, and a wooden bathtub. The hotel also has an outdoor tub that is frequently used. The centre lies in idyllic surrounds by the guest port, a mere 10 minute walk from the shop, post office, and bank.
The hotel also offers visitors a range of different activities, from fishing trips, eagle rafting, and sea animal safari, to adventure activities and fun in the nature.
In summer 2010 the hotel was elected Norway's best summer hotel, which was decided by votes from readers of the magazine Reiser og Ferier, and Nettavisen.
