The Maritime Museum in Aust-Agder is located in Hasseldalen in Grimstad.
In 2015 a brand new maritime museum opened in Hasseldalen. Two new exhibitions will each, in their own way, show how important the sea has been to people in the region. "The Age of Sail" presents the economic, social and cultural aspects of shipping, told through the stories of shipowner I.W. Prebensen, the rookie Giert and Captain Due and his wife.
In the second exhibition, "The Norwegian Riviera", visitors can explore models of the first plastic leisure boats produced after the war. With more time and money at hand, the leisure boats played a key role in our new summer pursuits.
The museum offers a varied menu from Smag&Behag's restaurant, and souvenirs from your visit are available from the maritime museum shop. A stroll in Hasseldalen's historic surroundings is also recommended.
