Amid the fantasy landscape of Arctic tundra, in the land of the northern lights, Årviksand sea fishing centre is a holiday destination like no other, particularly in winter.
Årviksand is on the North side of the island of Arnøya in the Troms region of Northern Norway and is one of the most stunning places in Northern Norway.
The fishing out of Årviksand is magnificent, especially around the island of Fugloy and out on the open sea plateaus to the North of the island. Cod & halibut fishing here is top class, with massive fish taken on lures and whole coalfish baits.
The huge plateaus that make up the grounds known as “Taren”, like Storskalltaren for instance, are located straight out in front of Arnøya and Fugløya. Some of these plateaus come from depths of over 200 metres to less than 20 metres and they are teeming with Big Fish.
To reach Arviksand, you fly to Tromsø airport and either, take a rental car and drive to the ferry at Storstein, approx. 3 hours, or take the ferry from Tromsø harbour direct to Arnoya where the host will arrange to transfer you to the apartments.
