Røvær is an island located 25 minutes off the coast of Haugesund. With 110 inhabitants and only one car, this is a community few of us have experienced. The tour starts with a boat ride from the pedestrian quayside in Haugesund. The boat has several daily departures 7 days a week, year round.
Walking around the on the island will get you a glimpse of its history, everyday life and enjoy the great scenery. A fun fact about the island is that none of the marriages entered into in the chapel have ended in divorce…
Angling, kayak paddling, Lothestranden Beach, and a walk at low tide are some of the acitivities Røvær has to offer. Røvær Sjøhus serves the traditional dumpling dishes of western Norway, and Røvær Kulturhotell features a tempting menu based on seafood.
Beach at the north end of Suggevågen that is a 15-min. walk from the quay. A beautiful area for swimming, sunbathing, picnicking, grilling and playing volleyball. Small craft pier and WC. Larger boats can lie at anchor or use the guest harbour at Vågen to the south.
The island hotel provides accommodation, activities, food, snacks, drinks and great hospitality.
It is possible to hire rowing boats, canoes, kayaks and fishing gear every day in the spring / summer at Røvær Sjøhus or at Røvær kulturhotell.
From 24 June to 20 august the summer café is open every day from 12:00 until 18:00.
