Hadeland
and Ringerike

Beautiful landscape, art and history

The Twist. Isn't it cool?

Explore the building that The New York Times has declared a must-see.

At the Kistefos Museum, an hour's drive north-west from Oslo, you can experience world-known architecture and the cutting edge of Norwegian and international contemporary art.

Here, you can see works by Yayoi Kusama, Olafur Eliasson and Jeppe Hein, as well as by Norwegian artists such as Bjarne Melgaard and Magne Furuholmen (Furuholmen is also a member of the famous Norwegian band A-ha).

Explore the enormous sculpture park and several unique galleries.

Ten minutes from the Kistefos Musuem, you will find the famous Hadeland Glassverk, ideally situated next to the Randsfjord.

Here, you can see glass blowers perform their trade exactly as they did in the 1700s.

The area is almost like a small village, with restaurants, art exhibitions, stores, and family activities.

Isn't this the look of a passionate chef?

The colorful hotel of Thorbjørnrud, only two minutes from Hadeland Glassverk, has its own kitchen garden and brewery, and offers a delicious menu focusing on local food.

Visit the Sister Churches, and stop by Glasslåven Art Centre while you're there.

Stop by Hønefoss, a nice town with many shopping opportunities.

And don't forget to stop by the sculpture "Oppgangssaga". From here, you have an amazing view of the town.

Want to go back in time? Hadeland Folk Museum is an open air museum at Halvdanshaugen, where the head of the famous viking Halvdan Svarte is supposedly buried.

Here, you will also see more than 30 restored buildings and Sankt Petri, a church from the year 1120.

At Veien Cultural Heritage Park, you can visit Eastern Norway's largest graveyeard from prehistoric times, which also consists of a restored house and a modern museum.

Lygna is a nice area for winter and summer fun, located only an hour away from Oslo.

Here, you can go for a hike, take a bath, go fishing, sleep in a hammock, go kayaking, or go skiing in the winter.

Go for a hike up to Ringkollen where you can go biking, hiking or sleep in a floating tent. At Ringkollstua, you will find all the equipment you need for an amazing day outside.

Or book a course to go paragliding in Ringerike.
