The Norwegian Olympic Museum is the national museum and window into Norwegian sporting history.
It is the only one of its kind in Norway, and offers the following exhibitions:
In the Historical Section, visitors can enjoy Olympic history from 776 BC, as well as all the modern-day Olympic Games from 1896 onwards. A unique journey brought alive through videos and sound recordings, gold medals won by Norwegians and Olympians’ equipment. The section also comprises
"One of the world's biggest pin collections" which may be moved to the Hans Rode collection in the Olympic Room.
The Olympic Room is the Norwegian Gallery of Honour, featuring pictures of Norway's best known athletes. Crown Prince Olav's gold diploma from the 1928 games, Johan Jørgen Holst's collection of Olympic stamps from 1896 to 1994, Jan Staubo's Olympic memorabilia and Hans Rode's collection, including one of the world's largest pin collections.
The Lillehammer '94 Exhibition features the egg from the opening ceremony, presentation of medal winners, video films, design and culture. A visual summary of the 1994 winter games is shown in the film room every half hour. Kjetil André Aamodt is the world's most decorated alpine skier. His exclusive medal collection is on display at the museum.
In the gift shop you will find all the official Olympic posters from 1896 to 2006, as well as Olympic books, sweaters, hats, scarves and various souvenirs.
