Alpine resort

Hemsedal is situated in a landscape of spectacular beauty – the setting for some of the most thrilling and exhilarating skiing and snowboarding to be found anywhere. The peace and quiet up on the mountains is something you will never forget – and the stunning viewpoints are accessible to every level of skier.

Stand at the summit of mount Totten – 1,497 metres above sea level – and you will be looking down at the highest winter ski piste in Northern Europe. Look more carefully and you will notice a fantastic green beginner piste that runs for six kilometres all the way down the valley.

Within the ski area, there are runs of all standards – for example, wide reds and a handful of expert blacks that include moguls and glorious off-piste runs through the picturesque pine and birch woods.

A warm welcome is always at hand for families – Hemsedal prides itself on having Norway’s largest children’s ski area – 70,000 square metres. There is so much to do – exploring the ‘Troll Forest’, eating picnic lunches around an open fire in a
tepee and watching spectacular ski shows amongst others.

Trollia day care is from six months. Three - six year olds can join Lynxland and enjoy a combination of ski school and outdoor activities.

You will find there is an excellent choice of accommodation, with plenty of ski-in and ski-out cabins with private sauna, as well as a selection of hotels located down in the valley. There’s a handy free ski bus to get you around and last but not least the best après-ski to be found in Norway.

Cross-country skiing

There are 130 kilometres of prepared tracks for cross-country skiing in the valley and forests and 80 kilometres of marked tracks in the mountains. There are flood lit trails until 11 pm every night.
