A sunny summer’s day on board Fjellvåken II, which runs scheduled cruises on Lake Møsvatn, is an unforgettable experience.
Your options include a day trip from Skinnarbu up to Mogen Turisthytte at the foot of Hardangervidda, one of Europe’s largest mountain plateaus, or a three-hour guided round trip from Skinnarbu to the island of Hovden with its beautiful church.
Many famous Norwegian authors, artists and musicians come from the regions around Rauland. If you follow the route around Vinje municipality (approximately a two-hour drive), you can visit a large number of museums, summer craft exhibitions, events and culture centres that bear witness to this. Two places worth visiting are Vest-Telemark Museum and Raulandsakademiet Cultural Centre.
Rauland is an ideal area for hiking. There is a wide range of waymarked trails of varying length and difficulty both in the woods and in the high mountains.

In Rauland you can fish in several lakes for trout and char. All you need is a licence, which can be bought at the tourist information office or online at Inatur.
Rauland offers a wide range of other activities, for example elk safaris, kayaking, and riding. You can also join the feeding of tame reindeer.
