Here you can enjoy a stable inland climate with snow normally from December to April.
Alpine skiing
Rauland has three ski centres with ski areas for Telemark skiing, snowboarding and alpine skiing. There are ski schools for adults and children, as well as ski rental and child minding.
There are also restaurants, pubs and cafés where you can enjoy a meal or after-ski.
Rauland Ski Centre is suitable for the whole family and is the largest ski centre in Rauland with 22 ski runs and 9 lifts, including two chair lifts.
Vierli Ski Centre has 5 lifts and 11 ski runs, one of Europe’s largest toboganning centres and many other activities.
Raulandsfjell Alpinsenter has tough ski runs, including off-piste runs, for those who like a challenge, and a children’s activity area with its own lift. 2 lifts and 6 ski runs in total. There is also evening skiing with floodlit ski runs.
All three ski centres have a joint lift pass, and there is a ski bus connecting the ski centres together.
Cross-country skiing
Rauland is a superb area for cross-country skiing, with a 140-kilometre long network of well-groomed trails in both the high mountains and in the forests. Approximately 60 kilometres of the net is prepared for free style, the rest is prepared with two double classic tracks.
To ensure a long cross-country season, Rauland has a floodlit artificial snow trail from the start of November between Rauland Høgfjellshotell and Vierli Turistsenter. There is aslo a continous lit trail of eight kilometres from Rauland centre to Attføringssenteret. The ski trails are lit daily until 10 pm.
Fun without skis
There are plenty of activities to choose from, for example snow rafting, dog sledging, feeding of reindeers, ice fishing and riding.
