Fishermen's cabins

Originally built as accommodation for visiting fishermen during the fisheries of Lofoten, fishermen's cabins, or "rorbuer" as they are called in Norwegian, are today immensely popular both amongst Norwegian and foreign holidaymakers. You are advised to book well in advance, especially if you are coming to Norway in July and August.

Camping with a view

In the lush, beautiful valleys of the inland region, salmon and trout fishing is nearby. The numerous camping cabins that are found in the Nordmøre Region are popular with foreign tourists. Many camp sites are well-suited for children, offering playgrounds and activities such as fishing.

Farms

Are you looking for a different, down to earth and exciting holiday? Why not stay at a traditional summer pasture farm (called "sæter" or "seter" in Norwegian) or at a farm?

The locations of the "seter" is often spectacular, in scenic surroundings in mountain valleys. Far away from daily life, you will hear the silence of the nature, feel the vibrant colours and enjoy a relaxing holiday.

On the "seter" and farms, happy cows and curious goats are close by. How often do you or your children get to cuddle farm animals?

The summer farms serve locally produced food such as sour cream, butter, freshly fished trout, delicious meals seasoned with fresh herbs, homebaked bread and homemade butter. The summer farms, serve as great base camps for short and long hikes in the areas.

The farms and "setrene" are easily accessible, and often only a short and easy walk from the road.

Mountain cabins

The Norwegian Trekking Association's local branch in Kristiansund and Nordmøre has a range of cabins in the mountains and by the fjords. These cabins are low cost for both members and non-members of the association.

Hauggjegla Lighthouse

Imagine enjoying the sunset 40 metres above sea level, with a view that allows you to see details miles and miles away. At Hauggjegla Lighthouse on the island of Smøla you can have this experience. You will remember the smell of salt water, the sound of the waves and the solitude feeling for a long time.
