Sea trout migrate up the Oselva River. Freshwater trout can be fished in the Visa, Moaelva and Hustadelva rivers.

Hunting

Lesja is a unique area for those interested in hunting or fishing. Many of the mountain lakes are teeming with fish - Lågen and Lesjaskogvannet are just two examples. Annual hunting season for wild reindeer, moose, and small game - especially grouse.

Diving

Hustadvika, with its multitude of wrecks and its rich animal and plant life, is a diver's paradise. Underwater visibility of 40 to 60 metres is not unusual in the winter, and there is good visibility during the rest of the year too. Strømsholmen Sea Sports Centre is situated near the Atlantic Road and hires out diving equipment, organises guided boat trips and diving courses, and fills cylinders with air.

Island hopping on two wheels

This cycling tour starts in Molde and proceeds westwards to the island municipalities of Midsund, Sandøy and Aukra. Between the islands you can relax on ferries or express boats. The tour continues on the mainland to the fishing village of Bud, across small islands and skerries along the Atlantic Road and ends with the ferry trip from Averøy to Kristiansund. Take the Hurtigruten (the Norwegian Coastal Express) back to Molde or northwards to Trondheim.

The route, which totals 200 km, is cycled in stages with overnight stops along the way. A Cycle Guide with detailed maps, tour descriptions and interesting detours is on sale at Molde Tourist Office for NOK 75.

Golf

Eikrem: Golf course with a panoramic view of the fjord and mountains is situated at Henden Farm, 5 kilometres east of Molde centre. Full 9-hole course, par 72/5470 metres. Driving range, putting green, 3 par-three  practice holes, PGA-pro, pro shop, club and buggy hire.

Åndalsnes: This hilly 9-hole course lies in beautiful surroundings at Setnesmoen near Åndalsnes. Not many are aware that this was where golf started in Norway. The English salmon lords held golf tournaments in Åndalsnes as early as 1905 - on the site of the current golf course.

Horses and riding

Vestnes is one of the best places in Norway for Icelandic ponies, and there are several enterprises offering holiday facilities and activities. Icelandic pony riding holidays lasting several days are available, as well as hour-long and day trips. Stall Kjersem and Stall Kjellbotn offer tours.

Sea rafting

Sea rafting trip in rubber boat, wearing a survival suit, among the innumerable small islands and skerries. High speed and thrills combined with an experience of coastal scenery at close quarters. The trip provides opportunities for forays ashore, barbecued sausages /toasted bread, swimming and seashore discovery expeditions.

Mountaineering, hiking and peak climbing

During the summer you can choose between climbing, abseiling and peak climbing. Romsdalshorn, Vengetind and Juratind are the most popular peaks for climbing. The ascent of the Litlefjellet Mountain, continuing up the north wall of Romsdalshorn is the most usual, with climbing the last 300 metres. There are countless opportunities for mountain walking in Molde and Romsdal, both short walks suitable for families and more demanding summit hikes for more experienced walkers.

Grottos

  • The Troll Church by Eide, three exciting limestone grottos with underground streams and waterfalls. The two lower grottos have beautiful waterfalls that cascade 14 metres down into a white marble pool.
  • Franskhelleren at Dryna in Midsund. French POWs fleeing from the Germans lived here during the last six months of the war in 1944 - 45. Good view of the ocean and numerous skerries and islands.
  • Bjørneremshellerne, at Midøya. The first people to settle in Romsdal probably lived in these caves.
