Location

Nordfjord is located in the county of Sogn og Fjordane, in the heart of Western Norway, between the Geirangerfjord and the Sognefjord.

What to do

Visit the famous Briksdalsbreen Glacier, go summer skiing in Stryn, visit the West Cape or the historical Selje Monastery. Hiking, glacier walks, fishing, bicycling, canoeing, rafting, riding and much more.  

Accommodation

Choose between hotels, cabins and camp sites. The old wooden hotels with their distinctive atmosphere are worth checking out. Stay at for example Visnes Hotel or Gloppen Hotell, the latter a member of the Historic Hotels and Restaurants in Norway.

Getting to Nordfjord

From Oslo
Nordfjord lies approximately 500 kilometres northwest of Oslo.

  • By bus:
    Daily departures to Nordfjordeid (approximately nine hours). For timetables and booking, please contact Nor-Way Bussekspress.
  • By plane:
    Daily departures from Oslo to Sandane Airport. Flight time approximately one hour. For timetables and booking, please contact Widerøe.
  • By car:
    The drive from Oslo to Nordfjordeid takes approximately seven hours. Follow the E6 from Oslo to Otta, and then follow Rv 15 to Nordfjordeid, via Stryn.

From Bergen
Nordfjord lies approximately 250 kilometres north of Bergen.

  • By bus:
    Daily departures to Ålesund (approximately nine hours). In Ålesund change to the bus to Geiranger (approximately 110 kilometres). For timetables and booking please, contact Nor-Way Bussekspress.
  • By car:
    The drive from Bergen to Nordfjordeid takes approximately five hours (ferries not included). Follow the E 39 from Bergen. Ferries between Oppedal and Lavik. Continue on the E 39 to Byrkjelo via Førde. From Byrkjelo continue on the E 39 to Lote and cross with the ferry to Anda. From Anda you continue on the E 39 to Nordfjordeid.
  • By plane:
    Daily departures from Bergen to Sandane Airport. Flight time approximately one and a half hour. For timetables and booking, please contact Widerøe.

From Trondheim
Nordfjord lies approximately 450 kilometres southwest of Trondheim.

  • By bus:
    Daily departures to Nordfjordeid (approximately 10 hours). For timetables and booking, please contact Nor-Way Bussekspress.
  • By car:
    The drive from Trondheim to Nordfjordeid takes approximately seven hours. Follow the E 6 from Trondheim to Strand, via Dombås. Then follow Rv 15 to Nordfjordeid, via Stryn.
