All the large cities and towns have airports catering for both international and domestic flights. However, you must be prepared to possibly change planes in order to reach your final destination in Norway.

Oslo Airport Gardermoen is Norway’s main airport, where most of the international traffic arrives.  However you can also fly direct to the following airports from the UK:

  • Bergen Airport Flesland
  • Moss Airport Rygge
  • Sandefjord Airport Torp
  • Stavanger Airport Sola
  • Tromsø Airport
  • Trondheim Airport Værnes
  • Haugesund Airport Karmøy

The following airlines offer flights to various destinations in Norway from the UK:

  • SAS
  • Norwegian
  • British Airways
  • BMI
  • Ryanair
  • Eastern Airways

For flights within Norway, SAS, Widerøe and Norwegian operate a comprehensive network.

Information for disabled travellers

Wheelchair accessibility to aircraft in Norway is unfortunately not possible without assistance. It may be difficult to board or disembark an aircraft without assistance, not just on smaller aircraft. Movement within the aircraft is limited, and access to the toilet facilities not possible.

When booking your ticket please explain exactly what assistance you require. This should also be done at the airport check-in counter. The more information you give the easier it will be for cabin and airport personnel to provide the assistance you require.

The airline companies will ensure that whatever assistance you receive when boarding an aircraft will be available when you land, even during an intermediate landing. The airline staff will send the information ahead to the airports you use during your trip.

If you plan to take an electric wheelchair on board, the batteries must be of a type approved by the airline, e.g. dry batteries or similar. There is also a valve-controlled traction battery that is approved by Norwegian airlines. The battery must bear the name of the supplier.
