1 Conquer the Kjerag

The spectacular sight of the Lysefjord is best seen from the craggy plateau of the Kjerag, 3,000 feet above - a tough but rewarding climb. Then step on the famous Kjerag boulder and admire the view!

2 Take a hike

Among the many hiking choices, some of the best are found close to the waterfalls of Sunnfjord, a two-hour drive north of Bergen. Look out for the stunning viewing bridge over the falls in Viksdalen.

3 Kayak on a glacier lake

Paddling among the mini-icebergs of lake Styggevatnet, through clear waters amid the turquoise-blue ice of the mighty Jostedalsbreen glacier is true exhilaration!

4 Visit the island of puffins

The astonishing bird sanctuary of Runde, just two hours from Ålesund is an awesome sight. Wonder at the thousands of Puffins that nest on its craggy rocks.

5 Experience life on a mountain farm

High above the Åkrafjord, the charming farm of Eikemo bears witness to an astonishing way of life – gentle summer pastures, creamy goat’s milk, delicious cheeses and fantastic cured meats.

6 Cycle the navvies' road

The Rallarvegan road, once the transportation route of the navvies who built the Bergen railway is now a peaceful cycle route of natural beauty – look out for the old barracks and stone bridges.

7 Tour the pearl of the Trondheim Fjord

The islet of Munkholmen has been in turn a Benedictine abbey, a fortress, a prison, a place of execution and a custom post. It’s also a great place for bathing and seaside fun.

8 Follow St Olav's pilgrims

Nidaros Cathedral, in Trondheim, is the resting place of St Olav, Norway’s patron saint. You’ll find serenity as well as stunning scenery all around.

9 Ski in summer

Skiing for all levels can be found on the edge of glaciers at both Stryn Summerski and Folgefonna Summer Ski Centre. Unusually for Europe great skiing flourishes from May onwards.

10 Walk in a world of ice

Whether it’s guided hiking, ice-climbing or a peaceful walk – the Folgefonna Glacier has captivating views. Easily reached from Jondal, two hours from Bergen – the air is the purest imaginable.
