Hiking in Norway with Discover the World

Join a walking holiday around Bergen, the gateway to the fjords, and explore one of Norway's best outdoor destinations on foot.

A land of huge contrasts, Norway has a diverse and breathtaking landscape. Explore fjords, caves and canyons, as well as mountain ranges punctuated by deep emerald lakes in this hiker's paradise.

UK specialist tour operator Discover the World have been operating Scandinavian holidays for almost 30 years. Their wide range of holidays offers fantastic opportunities for exploring the Norwegian great outdoors on foot. In addition to offering a collection of self-drive itineraries, fjord cruises, rail journeys and winter breaks they can also tailor-make your holiday to suit your personal requirements and interests.

Walk Bergen & Beyond is a brand new five-night, two-centre summer break aimed at those wanting a taste of walking and hiking in Norway.

This flexible itinerary does not require you to drive, so you can immerse yourself in the stunning natural landscapes that make Norway so special. Fly into and out of Bergen and follow a circular route, connecting between the two centres by scenic train. Spend the first two nights in historic Bergen, taking advantage of the many marked trails high above the city on Mt Fløyen or Mt Ulriken, from where the views are tremendous. The last three nights are based at the beautifully situated Hotel Stalheim, giving you easy access to the wealth of hiking and walking trails in the Nærøyfjord area.

With this fully independent itinerary you are free to explore the Brekkedalen and Jordalen valleys on self-guided circular walks, ride the corkscrew railway at Flåm and see the Nærøyfjord by boat, as well as opt for more challenging walks, part of the old postal route between Bergen and Oslo being one option.

Departures for this new summer break operate from June through September.
Prices from £741 per person (based on two adults sharing).
