Visitnorway.com won in the category best homepage/welcome page for their 360 degree footage of the spectacular Geirangerfjord. The award winning images give the user a virtual tour of the fjords with the possibility to zoom and turn the camera as they please.
The Norwegian director of tourism, Per-Arne Tuftin is thrilled to bring home a webby. – We are very proud to be able to call us the best home page is the world. We hope this will inspire more people to get up close with the Norwegian fjords, he says.
The Geirangerfjord area is a UNESCO world heritage site and we want to share this amazing part of Norway with the rest of the world. These images are the closest you will get to the Norwegian fjords without actually being there, Tuftin continues.
Visitnorway.com has since the award winning fjord images, released a 360 degree film of a base jump in Stryn, Norway. The breath taking video was filmed from a camera placed on the helmet of the famous Norwegian base jumper Jokke Sommer, as he was doing one of his crazy wing suit jumps.
