Description

Jostedal Camping offers affordable accommodation in cabins of different sizes. The campsite is only 5 km from Jostedalsbreen National Park and the glaciers Nigardsbreen and Bergsetbreen, and only 30 km from Sognefjorden, the longest fjord in the world. Good campsite with 12 cabins, close to two grocer's, a petrol station and a hotel & café (serving home-made food). Two new good standard cabins, and new sanitary facilities from 2007. 30 electrical power points for caravans and mobile homes.

From the campsite you can go hiking in the mountains or go rafting in the river Jostedøla. Nigardsbreen is only a short drive away (5 km), and from there you can join guided tours or hire a personal guide.

Within approximately half an hours drive from Gjerde you can take guided kayak-trips from the lake Styggevatnet, go horse riding at the beautiful sandur environment at Fåbergstølen or visit the museum Breheimsenteret and enjoy their exhibitions.

In the winter season, Gjerde is an excellent starting point for off-piste skiing, either with or without a guide. GPS: N 61°37'54,2, E 07°16'01,0
