Steve Casimiro in National Geographic Adventure Magazine.

National Geographic Adventure recommends Ålesund in Fjord Norway and Tromsø in Northern Norway as excellent destinations for active holidays.

The magazine presents Fjord Norway  as the Scandinavian version of Lake Tahoe; and highlights the many mountains that are ideal for hiking, biking and skiing. Or climbing. The Sunnmøre Alps around Ålesund are recommended as some of Norway’s best backcountry. The journalist goes on to recommend the more than 300 mountain peaks around Molde for skiing and climbing.

National Geographic goes on to recommend the fjords for kayaking and the waterfalls for playing in. They recommend mountain biking at the Godøya Island, and paddling in the North Atlantic Sea.

Leaving Fjord Norway and travelling north to the Arctic, they consider Tromsø as Norway’s Alaska, where they recommend big-wall mountaineering, dog sledging, remote kayaking and wilderness hiking.
