Eating in Innherred

Try the local dish called "Inderøy sodd". Along the tourist route "Den Gyldne Omvei" you can buy and taste farm products based on local recipes.

"Innherred sodd", also known as "sodd og skjenning", is a meal fit for a feast. You will find several varieties of the dish. You can buy Innherred sodd at Inderøy Slakteri (a butcher's shop) in Inderøy.

Inderøy is also known for an interesting stretch comprising of 18 small businesses and sights, called The Golden Route.

In Verdal and Steinkjer, you should eat at the bakery/café Brød & Cirkus. The two outlets serve good and reasonably priced food. The menu has an international touch.

If you wish to partake in real everyday dinners such as a lot of Norwegian families prepare them, then Husfrua in Inderøy is the place you should visit. On the same hilltop you will find Øyna Parken, with beautiful views and a menu featuring ingredients from the eight municipalities around the Trondheimfjord.

The hotels in Innherred all have restaurants offering à la carte menus, where local ingredients and taste are important. At Stiklestad Hotell you can enjoy dinner in historical surroundings.
