Oslo is the capital of Norway and is known for its proximity to the surrounding forests. The Olympic city of Lillehammer is located at the beginning of the Gudbrandsdalen Valley.
Jotunheimen National Park is a popular place for hiking and extreme sports. Tønsberg, Sandefjord and Larvik are nice cities to visit during summer. Fredrikstad has a charming old town centre.

Hiking in the mountains is a popular activity. There are marked trails and a good selection of cabins that offer accommodation. There are ski resorts throughout this part of the country. Go river rafting in Sjoa or join a guided city walk in Oslo. Vigelandsparken sculpture park is a must when you are in the capital.
