Ghost tour/activity path at Fredriksten Fortress

Take the ghost tour and check all the nooks and crannies and dark dungeons. Answer the questions, and perhaps you will meet a ghost?

Ghost maps are sold at the information centre at Fredriksten 18 May - 31 August , open 10 am - 5 pm.

Exhibitions at Fredriksten Fortress

There are several exhibitions at the fortress. They are open 18 May – 31 August 10 am to 17 pm.

Fredriksten Golf Course

Fredriksten Golf Course has 18 holes. It is located in scenic and historical surroundings in the grounds of Fredriksten Fortress. Play golf at Fredriksten Golf Course from the middle of April to November.

Guided tour at Rød Manor

The Rød Manor has an elegant look with beautiful interiors and valuable works of art. One of the country's largest private collections of weapons is also found here. The magnificent English gardens at Rød with their large deciduous trees, an avenue of hazelnut trees and symmetrical walkways in the Italian and French baroque style are among the finest to be found in Norway.

Guided tours 2011: 2 May - 20 June, and 22 August - 26 September: Sundays at noon, 1 pm and 2 pm. 22 June to 15 August: Tuesday - Sunday at noon, 1 pm and 2 pm. 

Explore the Halden Canal with M/S Strømsfoss or D/S Turisten

The Halden Canal, which is a part of the Halden Watercourse, is one of Norway's finest technical and historical monuments.

By means of the Halden Canal it is possible to travel the 75-kilometre long stretch between Tistedal and the village of Skulerud by boat.

Experience Brekke Locks (in the south of the system) - Northern Europe's highest canal lock system. Brekke has 4 canal lock chambers and a height difference of 26.6 metres.

Join M/S Strømsfoss on an unforgettable adventure on the canal. The boat traffics the canal during the summer months.

You can also go for a journey with D/S Turisten. After being raised from the bottom of Lake Femsjøen, and after thousands of restoration hours the steamship D/S Turisten is ready for service on the Halden Canal. 

Fishing in the Enningdal River

The Enningdal River is one of very few watercourses in the south-east of Norway which has a high amount of salmon. Salmon season 16 May – 15 August.

A great summer show at Fredriksten Fortress. Join in and sing along. Wednesdays 30 June - 11 August.
