What to do in Sandefjord

Walk along the coast on signposted trails. Hire a guide and explore the coast. Climb the trees at the Activity Park, or enjoy a game of golf.

The music of nature is excellent relaxation. Our long coastline, large forests, numerous rocks and sandy beaches offer scope for relaxation year-round.

Beaches

In between the sandy beaches of Sandefjord lie a series of sheltered coves and beautiful smooth, sloping rocks. You can choose between bustling beaches or more secluded bathing areas – all along a coastline that is almost 150 km long.

Hiking

If you want to go walking or hiking, the possibilities are many and varied – both along the coast and in the forest. The coastal trail on Vesterøya offers 25 kilometres of marked trails for hikers where Folehavna, with its smooth coastal rocks and stunning view, lies at the entrance to the open sea. You will also find ruins from a German fortress built in 1941.

Rent a bike

Experience Sandefjord from a bicycle, ideal for bathing, sightseeing, and round trips. City bikes for hire for pleasant cycle rides in Sandefjord's easily accessible and flat countryside. Hire from The Tourist Information Office.

Fishing

If you want to fish in the sea, the possibilities are almost endless – both from a boat and from land. If you want to fish with a fishing rod from land, the two coastal trails on Østerøya and Vesterøya will point you to many excellent fishing spots. You can obtain a map from the tourist office. 

Sandefjord Golf

The town’s golf course is situated in rural surroundings with varied countryside by Marumskogen. Sandefjord Golf offers an 18-hole park and woodland course with many idyllic lakes. Eight of the holes have a lake in the fairway.

Foldvik Familiy Park

Foldvik Family Park is a family park where adults can relax in beautiful environment while the children enjoy themselves in the large activity areas, or say hello to the many animals.

High and Low Activity Park

Activity park where you can have a go at the climbing trails. The routes at High and Low Activity Park offer differing difficulty grades and skills requirements, from 0.5 to 25 metres above the ground. Offering several zip lines, the longest one is 500 metres and passes over the waterfall in Numedalslågen.

Explore the coast with a guide from "Norsk Fjell- og Padleskole"

At Norsk Fjell- og Padleskole you can hire a guide to explore the coast. An exciting activity in nature that includes climbing, jumping along the cliffs and swimming in the sea. You can also come climbing or kayaking.

Metro Bowling og Lekeland Sandefjord

Indoor activities for the whole family. 10 bowling lanes with the latest computer system. You can hire equipment and everything you need. Metro Bowling og Lekeland Sandefjord also have a play area for children up to 12, with bouncy castle, ball room, slides, climbing wall and much more.

Swimming Pool

At the upper end of Bugårdspark lies the town swimming pool with diving boards, slides and a warm water pool. The Rica Park Hotel Sandefjord also has a swimming pool. Here there is a saltwater pool, and Park Badet also offers a training studio, solarium, wet and dry saunas, snack bar and spa.
