The Hardangerfjord and Voss are located in the heart of Fjord Norway. Only about an hour by car from Bergen, they are two of the most accessible hiking areas in Norway. Enjoy the stunning scenery with fjords and roaring waterfalls, or discover a different world by joining a guided glacier hike.
In addition to being a hiking heaven, the region offers plenty of outdoor adventure activities like rafting, cycling, sea kayaking, via ferrata climbing, parachuting and paragliding.
When
The hiking season lasts from May to October. Please note that there may be snow in the mountain areas until the end of June.
Hiking possibilities
Along the Hardangerfjord you will find a number of charming villages from where you can embark on exciting hiking excursions. From the village of Lofthus you can go to the waterfalls, through the famous orchards or follow the historic routes to Hardangervidda National Park. Jondal, by the foot of the Folgefonna National Park, and Ulvik are also prominent hiking villages.
Voss is a great starting point for hikes, with a range of short and long trails of different categories. Voss Resort and Voss Fjellandsby in Myrkdalen have a network of family-friendly hiking tracks. Maps and information are available at the Voss Tourist Information Office.
