Shopping in the towns

In the small coastal towns of Brevik, Langesund and Kragerø you will find many charming small shops and galleries. Here you can purchase exciting works of art, handmade clothes etc. 

In the towns of Porsgrunn and Skien you will find more traditional supermarkets and the larger chain stores. 

Porsgrunds Porselænsfabrik is Norway’s oldest and only porcelain factory (founded in 1885). The factory lies idyllically beside the Porsgrunn river, and has its own porcelain museum and gallery. The popular factory outlet is open all year. The factory is open for advanced bookings for groups and individual visitors, where they can watch the production process from clay to the finished fired and decorated porcelain. 

Silversmiths in Vrådal

In the middle of Vrådal lies the Søftestad Gallery and the Nisseloft which sells jewellery, handicrafts and sports knives. They also sell beautiful handmade silver jewellery, plus silver ornaments for the national costume. Nisseloft has a Christmas shop and Christmas card dispatch in December.  Guided tours for groups in the silversmith workshop by arrangement.   
 
In Porsgrunn, Skien and Bø you will find special handicraft shops where you can purchase craft products and art works from the entire county.

Telemark also produces a lot of good traditional food. Take, for example, a trip to Mjonøy Culture centre in Vinje and taste the stone oven baked bread, flat bread, and delicious cured meats. One can also purchase these products to take home.   

Buy an artwork

Each year in Telemark a number of exhibitions are held around the county, and especially in the summer season. Most of these are sales exhibitions, so here you will be able to buy unique artworks of paintings, pottery, textiles, wood carvings and other exciting objects.
