Two major watercourses, Lake Bandak with the Telemark Canal and Lake Nisser/Lake Vråvatn leading to the Arendal Watercourse, run through the county council.
There are also a number of smaller lakes, with opportunities for fishing activities, summer as well as winter. There is a rich abundance of trout, whitefish, char and perch. In the Bandak River there are eel.
You will find towering mountains with peaks over 1,100 metres above sea level with a network of marked walking routes in the entire area.
Vrådal is proud of its cultural heritage and the many exciting attractions such as the Telemark Canal, Morgedal, the birth place of modern skiing, Kviteseid Rural Museum, an assembly of old houses from different parts of the area, and also the stone church built in 1260.
The area also has a rich tradition of local costumes ("bunader") and a style of painting, called "rosemaling" in Norwegian, for decorating furniture and other items, consisting of floral designs.
