Tour 1: By boat through the locks of the Bandak Canal  

Catch the bus from Vrådal to Ulefoss, via Brunkeberg, Seljord, Bø and Gvarv. On the way you will pass the beautiful Lake Seljord, famous for its elusive sea monster.

At Ulefoss you climb onboard a canal boat that will take you through the locks, and across the lakes and canals of the Bandak Canal to Kviteseid.

Tour 2: Discover Fyresdal

From Vrådal drive on the rv. 41 beside the 37-kilometre long Lake Nisser, Telemark's largest lake, passing through the villages of Nissedal, Treungen and Tjønnefoss. Alternatively, you may cross Lake Nisser by a tiny cable ferry to Fjone where you may choose between the road along the shores and beaches of the western banks of the lake, or crossing the mountain directly to Fyresdal.

Fv. 355 will take you over Våmur. At 670 metres above sea level, you have splendid views of Lake Fyresvatn, the mountains beyond and the pleasant fields and forests of Fyresdal.

At the village of Folkestadbygda you will find shops, a tourist information office and a small open air museum. Continue to Vråliosen on fv. 355 past Lake Skrevatn where majestic, shining cliffs rise from the shores. At Vråliosen you follow fv. 38 back to Vrådal.

Tour 3: A round trip in Western Telemark

From Vrådal, follow fv. 38 via Vråliosen to Åmdals Verk Gruver. Åmdals Verk Gruver is a mining museum with an interesting collection based on copper mines dating back to 1540. Guided walks in the old mines. The Ravnejuvet Gorge is also worth a visit.

Continue on fv. 45 from Dalen to Eidsborg Stave Church, one of the two remaining stave churches in Telemark, and the Lårdal Village Museum.

You then follow E134 from Høydalsmo to Morgedal. Morgedal is named the cradle of ski sports and was a natural place for the Olympic flame to be lit before the Winter Olympics at Lillehammer in 1994. In Morgdal you should visit the Norwegian Ski Adventure Centre.

Afterwards you continue on rv. 41 via Brunkeberg to Kviteseid and then back to Vrådal. Before climbing the hairpin bends, turn left for a visit to the old Kviteseid Church and the small local museum.

Tour 4: Bø Sommarland

This is Norway’s biggest water activity park with some of Europe’s top superslides.

Bø Sommarland has one of the world’s largest artificial waves for surfing and Norway’s biggest water roller coaster. 

How to get from Vrådal to Bø Sommarland:
Follow the rv. 41 to Brunkeberg, and then follow the E134 to Seljord. From Seljord you follow fv. 36 to Bø.
