Hiking in Skeikampen

Skeikampen is a small informal holiday hiking and biking resort at the foot of the Skeikampen mountain in the Gudbrandsdalen valley area.

Tour suggestions

Slagsfjellrunden, 25 kilometres
Suitable for medium to good hikers. Height difference of the hike is 397 meters. Marks, signs and yellow marks along the track.

From the center of Skeikampen you hike into the area of Torsdalen, on the east side of Skeikampen. Hike up and over Prestkampen and Slagsfjell where you will experience a fantastic view. Notice that there are two ascendants up to Prestkampen, the fastest one is also the steepest. Hike on down to Fyksesætra by Lake Nisju, on to Trisnipp seter, over Paradis, and back to Skeikampen. This path can be combined with other paths.

Time: Approximately seven hours

Kyrakampen-Knutsholoa, 14 kilometres
Suitable for medium hikers. Height difference of the hike is 256 meters. Marks, signs and blue marks along the track.

From the center of Skeikapen, follow the path down to Paradis. About 200 meters after the bridge take off to the right along the road to Kleve seter. Follow west to Kyrakampen, past the cave. Follow the path on to Veslesetra. From there to the left, follow the path to Trisnipp setergrend. Take the
same path back to Skeikampen.

Time: Approximately five hours

Avlundskampen, 13 kilometres
Suitable to medium hikers. Height difference of the hike is 266 meters. Marks, signs and orange marks along the track. Some wet areas to cross.

From the center of Skeikampen you hike into the area of Torsdalen, on the east side of Skeikampen. Hike up and follow the tracks as it runs left around the north side of Avlundskampen and Skeikampen. The track will take you back to Skeikampen, crossing several ski slopes and lifts along the hike south. Nice and varied terrain. Can be combined with the Peer Gynt parth over Skeikampen.

Time: Approximately four hours

Where is Skeikampen?

Skeikampen is located three hours north of Oslo, four hours south of Trondheim.

Getting to Skeikampen

By train to Lillehammer, and pick-up or local bus to Skeikampen.
By car: The main thoroughfare E6 from Oslo to Lillehammer (or from Trondheim to Tretten), and local road 255/254 to Skeikampen (45 minutes).

Season

The hiking season is from the end of May untill the beginning of October.
