Ice skating in Norway

Go skating outdoors in the middle of Oslo or on a frozen lake or river in the countryside.

Norway has a long skating tradition and has produced many world champions over the years.

Whether you have trouble keeping your balance, are as elegant as Sonja Henie or as fast as Johan Olav Koss, skating is about having fun.

Skating rinks are found in most cities and towns in Norway. Some of these are open throughout the year.

During winter you can go skating on a number of frozen lakes, rivers and fjords. However, make sure the ice is safe before venturing out. Ask locals and look for signposts.

Skates can be hired at the rinks, but if you want to skate out in the countryside you must bring your own equipment.
