Winter in Ålesund and Sunnmøre

Skiing with a fjord view. Sunnmøre's fjords and mountains are a perfect backdrop to unique and family-friendly winter adventures.

Compared with the big resorts in the Alps, the ski lift systems in Sunnmørsalpene are small-scale. Sometimes, you can almost have the slopes to yourself – especially mid-week.

If you prefer cross-country skiing, there are many great tracks to choose from. If you bring (or rent) ski touring equipment, there are completely untouched mountains where you can sometimes ski all the way from mountain summits down to the fjord.

A winter adventure in Sunnmøre should also include a visit to one of the towns in the region, or you can join a round trip to see the fjords and steep mountains covered in ice and snow.

Sunnmørsalpane Skiarena Fjellseter - cross country and alpine

Sunnmørsalpane Skiarena Fjellseter is centrally located in the middle of the Sunnmøre Alps

Whether you like alpine, telemark, snowboard, paragliding or cross-county skiing, you will enjoy Fjellseter. Here there are plenty of activities and competitions throughout the season. There is a ski school for children and adults, ski rental, bus to the resort, parking, snowboard area, restaurant, more than 35 kilometres of groomed cross-country skiing tracks, floodlit trails and much more.

Overøye/Langsæter and Stordal Alpine Centre

In the area Overøye/Langsæter, you find Stordal Alpine Centre. The Langsæter area is popular with families. Climbing high peaks and ice fishing have also become very popular activities in this beautiful recreation area.

There are easy family cross-country skiing tracks in relatively flat terrain with ski to the Langsæter area and Fokhaugstova. The area has prepared cross-country tracks running further to the lakes Storvatnet and Litlevatnet, which are excellent for ice fishing. At the alpine centre, you can warm up and buy food and drinks.

Alpepass ski card

The Alpepass card is a joint lift pass for nine designated ski resorts in Fjord Norway. In total, the ski region has 36 lifts, more than 60 slopes, several terrain parks and up to 800 metres in altitude difference. The ski resorts are situated in the centre of the fjord region in a coastal-alpine landscape which in recent years has been a magnet for international film makers.

With this unique lift pass, you have the opportunity to explore the whole region. It comes as a multi-day option, from two to 10 days. This means you can plan your winter holiday as a round trip with skiing experiences in several locations. The resorts within the Alpepass region have been on top of European snow statistics for several years. Plus, with Ålesund Airport Vigra nearby, and many international flights, snow enthusiasts do not have to travel far to experience a great adventure.

The Alpepass ski card includes the following ski resorts:
