Ålesund and Sunnmøre offer a wide selection of accommodation. Here you will find the whole gamut from luxurious and family-run hotels to rustic fishermen's cabins ("rorbuer") and cabins, in addition to guest houses, holiday houses and camping and caravan sites. Guest marinas situated in idyllic scenery by the coast or in the fjords of Sunnmøre complete the picture.

Hotels

You will find several hotels in the centre of Ålesund, as well as throughout Sunnmøre. Here you can choose to stay in older, traditional hotels, or in newly renovated or purpose-built conference hotels. Most of the large hotel chains are represented in Ålesund, and many of these hotels enjoy a great location by Brosundet or with sea views. Among them is Hotel Brosundet, which is located in a listed building over 100 years old. Or what about sleeping in a four-poster bed at the unique Hotel Union Øye  by the Hjørundfjord?

Cabins and holiday houses

The coast and fjord region of Sunnmøre is the perfect place if you want to spend your holiday in a well-equipped cabin or rorbu. A small motorboat is often included in the rent, and local fishermen will be happy to give you some good advice about fishing spots nearby.

Chill in a cabin beside the Austefjord or Hjørundfjord, on the islands of Runde or Haramsøya, or stay in a comfortable fishermen's cabin in Alnes.

DNT (The Norwegian Trekking Association) also has many cabins where hikers can spend the night. Most of these cabins can be found in mountain areas - they are open for all, and cannot be pre-booked.

Camping

There are plenty of camp sites and parking areas available for campers, whether you want to stay central or have nature as your closest neighbour. Many camp sites also have cabins for hire.

Youth hostels

Youth hostels are getting increasingly popular as a form of accommodation, also for families. You can find accommodation in different categories and at reasonable prices.

Several beautiful guest marinas await boat enthusiasts - from simple landing stages to harbours with a wide range of facilities.

Other accommodation
