Fishing in Molde and Romsdal

Fish in the Romsdalsfjord, which boasts one of the largest varieties of fish species in Norway, or cast your line from the Atlantic Road.

A one-hour flight from Oslo will bring you to the fishing paradise of Romsdal, where you will find a large variety of fish species, combined with a spectacular scenery and attractions like the Atlantic Road and the Trollstigen Road.

The island municipalities of Aukra, Midsund and Sandøy are excellent starting points for sea angling trips on boats that are built for the open sea. On the landward side of the islands and in the fjords it is possible to fish from ordinary small boats. Along the whole coast there are many good spots for angling from shore with rods, line and lures. The Atlantic Road is particularly well equipped with fishing bridges and wheelchair-accessible fishing spots. The region also has several mountain lakes and rivers teeming with fish.

When

Year round, but the main season is from January to October.

Fish species

The most common species found here are cod, pollock and haddock as well as herring, mackerel, tusk and ling.
