What to do in the areas of the Geirangerfjord and Trollstigen

Try rafting, go for a hike in the mountains, or enjoy a sightseeing trip on the Geirangerfjord.

Rafting, kayaking and cycling

Try rafting on the Valldøla River in Valldal, climbing or other thrilling outdoor activities. Explore the fjords from a new perspective in a kayak — kayaks with all necessary equipment can be rented both in Geiranger and in Valldal. Experience Dalsnibba and Trollstigen on bike, either on your own, or participate in a guided excursion.

Sightseeing on the fjords

Experience the fjords and the waterfalls from one of the many available sightseeing trips. You can also take the ferry between Geiranger and Hellesylt, or the longer ferry trip between Geiranger and Valldal.

Go hiking

There are many excellent hiking opportunities in the area, both easy hikes and longer walks for the more experienced. In the beautiful Tafjord Mountains there are many hiking routes, and you will find mountain cabins for accommodation along the routes. Contact the tourist information offices for suggestions on hiking trails.

Fishing

The fishing opportunities in the district are excellent, and range from fishing in the fjord to easily accessible streams and lakes at low level or days spent in the peaks with a fishing rod. There are four salmon rivers in the region (Strandaelva, Valldøla, Eidsdalselva and Storelva), where one may buy fishing permits. The tourist information can provide more information about fishing and the sale of fishing permits, both for salmon fishing and for other freshwater fishing. Fjord fishing is free of charge.
