“Polarriggen” in Longyearbyen, the capital of the Svalbard Islands, is a great starting point for excursions and arctic experiences, or simply as a place to relax and escape from the stress of everyday life.

The staff here is happy to suggest excursions and experiences for you, and provide information about what is available in and around Longyearbyen. There are are also good facilities for seminars here.

Another good reason for visiting Polarriggen is The AuroraSpa, the world's northernmost spa. Here you can combine the wilderness adventure with a range of treatments for your well-being, and enjoy a comforting and relaxing massage or a steamy sauna.

The various buildings

Rompa Bar
The outdoor hot tub is a popular attraction both summer and winter. On request, a barbecue by the outdoor hot tub can be arranged. The bar serves both beer and liquor, and is open until midnight.

Gruve Riggen
The main building has 17 single rooms and 14 double rooms with bunk beds. The rooms meet basic/simple standards with shared bathroom and showers. There is a TV-room and a kitchen where you can cook your own food.

Luksus Riggen
Luksus Riggen is of hotel standard, and consists of nine rooms, five double and four family-size rooms.

Winter Garden Restaurant
The place where winter meets summer and the Arctic meets the Orient. With an open and pleasant atmosphere, in the most unique bar and restaurant on Svalbard. Choose between tasty Thai-cuisine and exciting arctic dishes, or just enjoy a glass of wine or a nightcap at the intimate bar. 

Shang-Po-Lar Spisesal
The name “shang-po-lar” originates from the mess hall of the mining settlement in Sverdrupsbyen in the 1930s. The dining room was created to reflect how mining used to dominate life on Svalbard.

A perfect place to find inspiration for your own adventures and hikes in the area. Breakfast is served in the dining room every morning from 7 am to 10 am.
