Getting to Sirdal

Sirdal is a valley in the southwest of Norway. The easiest way of getting to Sirdal, is by car.

Whether you arrive to Norway by plane or boat, Stavanger (100 kilometres to the west) and Kristiansand (150 kilometres southeast) are the closest cities to Sirdal's municipality centre Tonstad.

From Stavanger Airport Sola, you drive drive on the E39 to Ålgård, and then take the rv. 45 in the direction of Tjørhom/Svartevatn which are in the upper part of the Sirdal Valley. Estimated time: One hour and thirty minutes.

From Kristiansand, the best road, especially during winter, is westwards on the E39 to Feda, and from there take the short cut directly northwards to Gyland and road rv. 466. At Sandvatn you take left on to rv. 42 in the direction of Tonstad. Estimated time: Two hours and thirty minutes.

In the summer the road rv. 9 from Kristiansand to Brokke is a good option. In Brokke you will get to drive the scenic Suleskarvegen Road to Sirdal. Estimated time: Two hours and thirty minutes.
