In the small towns and villages you will not find many of the larger chain stores, but unique, one of a kind shops. In summer there are local markets where you perhaps can find an antiquity treasure or buy local handmade products.

Large shopping centres or shopping areas are found outside the two largest towns in Sørlandet, Kristiansand and Arendal.

A lot of galleries have exhibitions during the summer, most of them sales exhibitions, where you can get hold of a product by one of the many talented, local artists. Some artists even invite you to visit their own atelier. It is very interesting to watch the artist in action, and actually see an item being made.

If your journey goes through the valley of Setesdal it is obligatory to make a stop at one of the silversmiths. They are renowned for their excellent craftsmanship.
