Prices and regulations

Fishing in the Hemsila River presents a great challenge. The rivers Hemsila and Grøndøla are good trout rivers.

The fishing season is from 30 May to 15 September.

Hemsedal has a fishing permit valid for 4 rivers and 18 mountain lakes. 2 hours cost NOK 60, 5 hours is NOK 100, a two-day permit is NOK 200 and it is NOK 350 for one week. Children under 16 years fish for free.

During the summer of 2008 a record trout of almost seven kilos was caught in the Mørkedøla River in Hemsedal.

Due to high fishing strain and taxation of the Hemsila trout, Hemsedal Fishing Association has introduced several new efforts to preserve the stock. Parts of Hemsila are therefore for fly fishing only, up to three hooks are allowed and it is only permitted to take home one fish measuring between 33 and 38 cm per day. It is forbidden to take out fish over 38 cm. The cost for these zones during the period 1 June to 15 September is NOK 700 for two days, NOK 1300 for a week and NOK 2600 per season. For the period 15 September to 1 June a two-day pass is NOK 400, a week NOK 700 and a season cardcosts NOK 1400.

Fishing permits can be purchased at Hemsedal Tourist Office and at some stores in Hemsedal.

Auriivillii, the local fly-fishing association has Nordic champions as guides, providing both beginners and more experienced fishers with helpful advice on the best locations.

Price: NOK 600 (for four hours) per person included guide. Minimum three persons.
