Skarsnuten Hotel has brought together the cream of young Norwegian cooking talent. The hotel is located like an eagle’s nest, with a wonderful view over Hemsedal and the surrounding mountains. Golfstua at Grøndalen Golf Course is open from May until well into October and offers inexpensive food all day in very pleasant surroundings. Golfstua is a meeting place for golfers and others, and is a pleasant spot to pop into for just a coffee or an ice cream.

Peppes Pizza is a safe bet for families with children and is right in the centre at Fanitullen.

Other good, well-known eating places in the centre of Hemsedal are Hemsedal Café,  Kjøkken Kroken and Skogstad Hotell. There are also several pleasant, centrally located cafés in both Hovtun and Rampa Shopping Centers.

Fossheim Hotell in Ulsåk, has a first class kitchen and a pleasant atmosphere. The raw materials used are mainly locally grown produce.  

If you want to try local dishes in a local atmosphere, why not visit Anne at Ulsåkstølen Fjellstugu, located just below the mighty Skogshorn Mountain. Here you can see how life has been on a mountain farm over the past hundred years, join a baking day, buy cheese, sour cream and butter from the farm and enjoy coffee, "rømmegrøt" (porridge made from natural sour cream) and other local specialities.
