The climate is stable and usually makes Hemsedal snow safe. The downhill season lasts from mid-November till the beginning of May. The ski centre offers a selection of slopes with most difficulty levels. There is a terrain park that is well known among snowboard enthusiasts.
There are plenty of places to stay. It is possible to stay very close to the lifts, and a free-of-charge bus service connects the accommodation areas and the slopes. There is a selection of restaurants, bars and night clubs to choose from.
There are 130 kilometres of prepared tracks for cross-country skiing in the valley and forests and 80 kilometres of marked tracks in the mountains. There are flood lit trails until 11 pm every night.
