Moss offers day-trip walks through lush countryside, along the Oslofjord, through woods and beautiful cultural landscapes to view points and past cafés serving delicious home-made bread, ckaes and hot coffee. Along the way you can stop galleries and handicraft workshops.
The Moss Region is surrounded by water, with the Oslfjord on the one side and the idyllic Lake Vansjø, the area's drinking water source, on the other. The countryside is easily accessible through a comprehensive network of walking trails. Hiking season is from May – October.
JeløyaThis route passes through Jeløya’s protected landscape of woods, cultural sites and fjord. Ascend to the vantage point at Rødsåsen. Visit Galleri F15, one of Norway's best-known art galleries displaying contemporary art, and the elegant Røed Gaard Farm, where you can experience exhibitions and handicrafts.
This is an easy, signposted walk lasting approximately for three hours.
RyggeFollow the Coastal Path ("Kyststien") from Moss town centre to Årefjorden, the medieval church Rygge and Halmstad. Make a stop at Ekeby Farm with its goat tower and cultural garden. Return by the same route or take the bus or train from Halmstad back to Moss.
This is an easy walk, partly signposted. From Moss town centre to Halmstad it is approximately four hours.
Walk along the Moss River as far as Elverhøy in Vansjø. Nesparken – Krapfoss – Øvre Vrangen Bridge – Årvolltangen – Elverhøy. Easy walk, the round trip takes approximately four hours. Signposted.
An easy round trip lasting approximately two hours in mixed spruce and pine woodland. The trip can be extended if desired. Car transport to the Skihytta Cabin is recommended. Prices provided on request. Signposted.
