Kristiansand has a rich and varied selection of indoor and outdoor cafés, restaurants and pubs. During the summer the city is seething with licensed bars open far into the night. Local fish, wild game, plants and berries are the source to tasty, high quality food served in the cafés and restaurants.

The fishmarket/quayside

For a wide variety of culinary temptations, you should try the restaurant area by the fishmarket/qayside. It is well worth a visit whether you are looking for a light snack or a three-course dinner.

Norwegian delicacies such as smoked salmon, newly caught mackerel, fish cakes or filet of moose are offered at the counters of the indoor fish market. Do like the locals, buy a bag of fresh shrimps or a basket of locally grown strawberries, and enjoy them sitting at the quayside.

Trendy restaurant

The modern restaurant Bølgen og Moi can tempt guests with a fantastic view from the quayside and a delicious meal. Here one of the most well-known artists in the Norway, Kjell Nupen, has decorated the walls and place-mats. Bølgen og Moi is a restaurant which gives its guests a special treat through the interplay between food, wine and art. The restaurant also holds different cookery courses throughout the year.
