Trondheim – the cultural city

The city plays host to different festivals throughout the year. The annual «Olavsfestdagene» is Norway’s biggest church and culture festival.

The Old Town Bridge «Gamle Bybro»

The Old Town Bridge has become a symbol of Trondheim and connects the two banks of the river Nidelven – the city centre and Bakklandet.

Nidaros Cathedral

Nidaros Cathedral is Norway's national sanctuary, and was built over the grave of St. Olav, Norway's patron saint.

Kristiansten Fortress

Kristiansten Fortress towers above Trondheim city centre, and is one of the most popular recreational areas in town. The view from here is great.

The Pilgrims' Route to Trondheim

The old Pilgrims' Route between Oslo and Nidaros Cathedral in Trondheim was reopened the summer of 1997.
