Description

Parking: Drive to Huldehaugen car-park, 1,5 kilometers from Oscarshaug on highway 55. The path begins across the road from the car-park.

The hike starts high above the tree line at an altitude of 1250 meters. Walking here is easy, and we have a good view of the scenery while we ascend. It is possible to leave the path and take a longer and less steep route to the top.

At the top we have a wonderful view in all directions. To the east the mountains Steindalsnosi (2025 m) and Fanaråken(2068 m) rise above the valley of Heljedalen. To the south we find the rugged peaks of Hurrungane, the most spectacular mountains of Norway, with more than 30 peaks reaching above the 2000 meter line. The highest one is Store Skagastølstind (Storen) 2405 m. William Cecil Slingsby was the first to climb it. That happened July 21st 1876.
